When we were told at dawn on the 16th of February of last year that we were to shoot Maria Grino at ten o’clock, we did not believe it. The National Guardsmen refused to carry out the sentence. We had to obey; but still we hoped that that atrocity would be postponed indefinitely. Postponing it was like a forged pardon.
